Modern Slavery Statement
Sustain International Ltd's commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
Sustain International Ltd is below the £36M turnover threshold that triggers a mandatory statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (s.54). We publish this statement voluntarily because our work is conducted with public-sector buyers, regulated institutions, and clients in jurisdictions where modern slavery risk is a material consideration.
About our business
Sustain International Ltd is an independent facilities management advisory practice. We work with sponsors, developers, and operators of complex multi-asset estates across the United Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council region, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Our services include lifecycle cost governance, service charge architecture, FM operating model design, post-contract assurance, procurement advisory, and digital transformation.
We are a small professional services firm. We do not manufacture or distribute physical goods. Our supply chain consists predominantly of professional services suppliers (technology, accounting, legal, hosting) and a small number of associate consultants engaged on a project basis.
Our commitment
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or our supply chain.
Risk assessment
We assess that the risk of modern slavery within our direct business is low, given the professional and regulated nature of our activities. The areas where residual risk requires monitoring are:
- Supply chain — particularly any contracted operational support services in jurisdictions with weaker labour protection frameworks
- Subcontracted associate consultants — verifying their own employment and engagement practices
- Client engagements that touch on facilities management workforces in regions where modern slavery risk in cleaning, security, and construction labour is material
Steps we take
To address these risks, we:
- Carry out due diligence on suppliers before engaging them, and require contractual representations that they comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and equivalent legislation in the jurisdiction of operation
- Pay associate consultants and contractors fairly, in line with market rates, and on terms that respect their working hours and rest periods
- Verify the right-to-work status of all engaged personnel
- Encourage all personnel to raise concerns about any potential modern slavery in our supply chain, with no fear of retaliation
- Where our advisory engagements touch on FM workforce arrangements, we raise modern slavery considerations as part of the assurance scope where appropriate
Training and awareness
All Sustain International staff and associate consultants are made aware of this statement and our underlying commitments at engagement and at annual review. We update training when our risk profile or supply chain materially changes.
Effectiveness
We measure our effectiveness against this commitment by tracking:
- The number of supplier engagements where modern slavery clauses are incorporated
- The number of concerns raised through our reporting channels
- Any breaches identified, remediated, or reported
For the period covered by this statement, no breaches have been identified.
Approval
